Out and about!

I have been out and about.  Out and about the countryside of Lincolnshire.  Over the last few years we have been looking into family trees.  Ancestors.  What they did, where they lived and any social history we can find about the times in which they lived.  Fascinating!  So on our way home we turned off the main road to go in search of the little village of Evedon.  My Nanny lived and worked here at the Rectory.  Miles from anywhere in the open countryside.  A beautiful old house…

nestling behind it’s trees.  And down the road was this quaint little church…

The church of St. Mary…

I could imagine her running down the road to go to the service, probably in the evening when all the work was done.  Walking passed the 16th century lidded gravestones and disappearing into the nave.  Being aware of the leaning tower…

It is such a pretty little Hamlet, with a pretty little church…

So much history within it’s walls.  I have itchy fingers to delve even deeper!  Who were the incumbents  and what were the links with the Priory of Haverholme and Gilbert of Sempringham.   I’ll leave that for another day.

Alison, how fascinating! I wonder, were these lovely photos taken with the said sad camera?
Lovely photos, of a lovely place, when life must have been hard but perhaps more satisfying than it is today.
    love and blessings,
